I'd fit in well in 'Twilight'

Hayden

So I get to the house this morning expecting nothing different with Hayden. The mom brings him down the stairs and he has this little patch over his right eye. I forgot that he had an eye doctor appointment Friday. They were concerned that at times his eyes seem to wonder, like a lazy eye. Well it turns out that both of his eyes wonder. There are a few things that can help solve this problem and the patch over the eyes is the first step. He has to wear the patch everyday for 2 hours on alternating eyes. They decided to do it first thing in the morning to get it over with. He was definitely more cranky than normal with it on, but it was over before we knew it. He did look so adorable with the patch on too. They call him a little pirate while it's on!! I just hope this helps because he's too cute to have something wrong with him.

Love at First Sight

Well I haven't posted in forever but we've been very busy. The move really seemed to wear me out so I've just been relaxing and not motivated to be on the computer much. But I just had to post about our first ultrasound.

Friday was our 10 week appointment. It was very long with lots of questions to answer. The good thing is that the nurse said everything is looking great and I'm a very healthy person. All of the blood work came back fine. Dave and I were both very nervous to make sure everything was good with me and the baby. She did a full body exam and had some concern about my thyroid. But I figured they would because I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid but never had to take any medication for it or anything. She said they will do some tests at another appointment but no concern at this point. She did a pap smear and some other things and then it was time for our ultrasound. She used the doppler to try to hear the baby's heartbeat which she couldn't find. That made me very nervous but the nurse said don't worry we'll hear it on the ultrasound.

She got the machine ready and pulled out this long, slim thing. She then tells me that this is an internal ultrasound. I was like, WHAT?? Did I hear that right? I had never heard of anything like that. I just assumed that everytime u did one it was that thing on your belly. I guess you learn something new everyday!!! She first checked for a twin which she called neighbors which I found was very funny. She was a really good nurse wife. Then we got to see our baby for the first time. I couldn't believe the feeling I had when she found it. I can't even describe how much I loved the little thing already. The baby didn't do much during the ultrasound but we saw the head, arms, legs and little heartbeat. Seeing and hearing the heartbeat was the neatest thing. All of our worries went away at that point. She did a few measurements to check we were correct with our timeframe. Dave is hoping that our baby is born around his bday which is Nov 18. My due date is Nov 27. After taking the measurements she clicked out and 2 dates were on the screen. The first one said Nov. 17 and Dave and I couldn't believe it. According to the size of the baby I was 11 weeks pregnant, but then we looked at the date her assistant put in for my last period and realized that was wrong. With the correct period date, I was still 10 weeks pregnant, due Nov 27. I felt bad for Dave cause he went from being so excited to a little disappointed. I keep reminding him I could deliver anytime around his bday. Everything was great and I'm set for another appointment in 6 weeks. After that we will make an appointment 2-4 weeks after that to find out the sex of the baby. That's the one we are really excited to have. Things are moving right along though!!

Moving Week

Well I haven't had much time to write since this is our official move week. We have been doing a lot of packing. I also got a cold this past weekend so I really have been down for the count. I should actually say that Dave gave me his cold and not being able to take anything has really sucked. I kept thinking how great it would be if I could take medicine to let me sleep normal. But my body has finally given me a break today and cleared the cold out of me. Yesterday was the first day I wasn't feeling sick to my stomach from the pregnancy either. So it is going to be a great end to a tough week.

We got the keys to the new place on Wednesday and started taking some boxes over. Dave's friend came over tonight to help move the tv's and stand. It's going to be weird with no tv to watch tonight. Dave and I might actually have to talk to each other ;) Dave was able to take tomorrow off and with it being my day off, we're going to take more boxes over and start unpacking what we can. Most likely we'll get the kitchen all moved and unpacked before Saturday. We're going to take over our closet clothes tomorrow too. So I'm going to take tonight and go through my closet and get rid of a ton of stuff. I have been meaning to sort through my clothes and donate a lot of the stuff I haven't worn forever but just have been too lazy. Moving is the perfect time for that. I still have clothes that I wore for my college, partying days. I don't think I'll be needing those anymore. It'll be nice because there will be room in the closet for new clothes shopping!! Then Saturday we have a lot of friends coming to help move all the big, heavy stuff. We're going to pick up the moving truck at 7 am. I have to be over at the new place by 8 because AT&T is coming to set up our phone, Internet and cable. At least I'll be able to watch tv while I wait for everyone to get over there. We're going to buy pizza and beer for everyone to keep them happy! I just truly hate moving so it'll be sooo nice when it's all over. I have a feeling after this weekend we're going to want to do nothing on the weekends but relax for awhile.

Hayden is turning 1 tomorrow. I cannot believe that it's been a year already. He is just turning into the cutest, sweetest little boy. He's really starting to show his affection with me which makes me love him even more. He's also sooo close to walking. He will take about 5-6 steps then throw himself at me. I saw for the first time yesterday him really think about walking and take his time taking his steps not to fall over. The grandparents are in this weekend so I can only imagine how spoiled he will be. They are having a little party for his bday on Saturday. Since there's not much moving I can do, I'm going to try to sneak out to stop at their house to drop off his gift and to say hi. I just have to see him in his little bday outfit mom was telling me about and see him dive into the cake. That's the best part about a kid's birthday, when the parents give him his own cake to "eat!"

The mom had taken today off since her mom was flying in this morning so we had some time to talk while she was getting the house ready. She asked me what we were planning on doing when the baby was born. Dave and I have talked about our options but we aren't really sure yet. I told her this and she goes to tell me that they love me with Hayden and would hate to lose me so I'm more than welcome to bring the baby along with me to work! I couldn't believe it. I had thought of that option but wasn't sure how I would bring that up. I mean they would be paying me to bring my baby to their house. Crazy! They truly are such wonderful people and I couldn't be happier/luckier to have found them to work for. Dave was all excited when I told him because I'll be able to work and take care of our baby at the same time. I think he was more excited that I would still be able to work!

That's about it for now. Not sure when my next post will be since it's going to be a crazy, long weekend of moving for us. I'm just so happy it's here and will be over after this weekend and I'm starting to feel good. I'm still tired but other than that great! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Keeping in touch from Pittsburgh, PA to Norfolk, VA

Dave and I dated long distance for our first 2 years of our relationship. I'm not really sure how we made it work. I guess a lot of mileage put on our cars back and forth almost every weekend. The other thing we did was to make sure we talked on the phone as much as possible. We went through 2 of Dave's deployments but after so long we started fighting over the littlest things only because we missed each other so much. We made the decision that we needed to be together or break up. I ended up finding a teaching job in Virginia and moved down to be with Dave. That was the start of us realizing we wanted to be together forever. We ended up getting married 2 years later. I do not recommend anyone having to date long distance but it definitely helped us have great communication in our relationship.

Blah

Well I'm starting to feel the effects of being pregnant. My stomache has been bothering me the last 2 days. I haven't been sick but I sure feel like I'm going to be. I feel like all I'm eating is bread and crackers. When I do try to eat a meal it's only a small amount. I also seem to be tired all the time. I feel like I could sleep all day long. Luckily I have a job that allows me to use the bathroom whenever I need and lay down when Hayden is down for his nap. I keep telling myself that it's all going to be worth it when our little baby is here. Any suggestions from those moms out there?

Scrapbook

Dave decided to go play hockey late last night which left me alone. I was sitting on the couch about to fall asleep when I decided to finish the book I was reading. I almost finished it at work so I was dying to know what happened. I read The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. I enjoyed it a lot. After that I seemed to have gotten some energy so I decided to work on the scrapbook page I had been working on over the weekend. I ended up finishing it and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I keep getting closer and closer to finishing this cross country album. I still have awhile to go but hopefully it won't take me long.
